Bangkok’s Grand Palace to close for two days while mourning ceremonies are observed

Posted By

The Bureau of the Royal Household has made the announcement that Bangkok’s Grand Palace is to be closed for two days from 20-21 January, 2017, for a ceremony to mark 100 days since the passing of the late King Rama IX. The Palace will open again to all visitors on 22 January.

There will be no tickets sold for the Grand Palace during this two-day closure and access to both the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha – or Wat Phra Kaeo – will be closed to both tourists and mourners wishing to pay their respects. Tourists can continue to visit other temples and attractions in Bangkok’s Rattanakosin area, which will be open to visitors as usual.
